Chilling History
Jennifer Desrocher, FI Coordinator
For Lisa, weekends are for exploring and hitting the road with her support staff, Dorothy, by her side. This past fall, the pair made not one but two memorable trips through New England, strengthening their long-running tradition of travel, laughter, and shared discovery.
In September, Lisa and Dorothy set out for Salem, Massachusetts, one of Lisa’s top travel picks. They joined a guided bus tour that wound through the city’s historic streets, offering close-up views of the famed museums and centuries old homes that define Salem’s legacy including The Witch House, the only building in Salem directly tied to the Salem Witch Trials that is still standing today. Lisa and Dorothy enjoyed the guided tour, taking in the stories and sights that brought the region’s past to life.
They hoped to participate in the popular ghost walks; many were fully booked during the busy season. But that didn’t dampen Lisa’s excitement, in fact, it sparked plans for another trip! Lisa is eager to return during the off-season so they can dive into more of the activities they missed.
On the same weekend, Lisa and Dorothy also made their way to Fall River, Massachusetts, to explore the famous Lizzie Borden House. Known for its fascinating and chilling history, the house-turned-museum offered a full walk-through tour that both found captivating. Despite the unsettling stories connected to the house, Lisa described the visit as “a lot of fun,” and Dorothy shared that Lisa has repeatedly expressed how much she enjoys their road trips together.
Lisa loves to travel and her adventures with Dorothy have become a treasured part of her life. With another Salem trip already on the horizon, the duo is far from done discovering new places and making new memories.

Guys Night Out, Steakhouse Edition!
Riley Borghetti, Operations Specialist
Everyone who knows Greg knows he’s full of laughter and endless thank yous and the local steakhouse got to experience it firsthand during a much-anticipated guys’ night out. With thoughtful planning and his closest buds by his side, Greg headed out ready to enjoy the evening.
The group settled into a roomy booth, using the familiar touch cues and shared language they've built over years of friendship. For Greg, the restaurant came alive with the mouthwatering aroma of food on the grill.
When it came time to order, Greg didn’t hesitate: a burger, fries, and his favorite treat of all, Dunkin’ coffee. His smile said everything as he explored his plate and dug in.
The night was filled with stories, inside jokes, and the easy camaraderie only longtime friends and housemates share. As the evening wrapped up, they all agreed: more guys’ nights are a must. It was a simple celebration of good food, good friends, and the kind of connection that makes life richer.

Getting Stronger & Laughing Harder
I have been at Keene Center [a skilled nursing facility] for a couple of weeks now. I like the people here that I have met. This is Donal, he is nice to me. He makes my coffee, sits with me and talks to me a lot. He loves to laugh, and I love to laugh too. He makes me laugh.
Donal goes to the gym when I go, and he does his exercises, and I do my exercises. I ride the bike that doesn’t move. I also do sideways walking (Donal says it is called side stepping), and it is supposed to help me with my balance, so I don’t fall. I do leg lifts too, but they really hurt. Sometimes I take a nap because my back hurts. I try to walk a lot with my walker. I play bingo, make crafts, and visit with other people.
Moe is also here, and he is a singer. He was in a country western band. If you tell him a few words of a song, he will sing the whole song. He has a very good voice for singing.
Yesterday we had a Valentine’s Day party with balloons and Chinese food. It was fun. I talked to my dad today and he wants me to get stronger too. Say hello to everyone for me.

Ladies, Lunch, and Laughter
Ally Gagnon, Program Manager
Sherrie proved this month that good company and good food can make any day a success, no matter what the weather has planned. When below freezing temperatures threatened to chill her original plans, Sherrie showed great flexibility by changing the location and bringing Ladies Lunch right to her home.
With support from staff, Sherrie transformed her dining room into the perfect gathering place. The space was rearranged to welcome more guests, and the table was set “fancy style” for the occasion. Attention to detail mattered, and the thoughtful setup helped everyone feel welcomed and ready to enjoy the afternoon together.
Sherrie spent the lunch chatting, laughing, and connecting with all the ladies in attendance. She enjoyed sharing conversations and spending time in such lively company. The gathering was such a success that Sherrie decided to turn Ladies Lunch into a monthly event!
After a fun and social afternoon, Sherrie was happy to return to her daily quiet activities. The balance between social time and peaceful routines helped make the day feel just right. Sherrie is already looking forward to next month’s Ladies Lunch!

Valentine's Day
Rhonda Nubuor, Program Manager
Valentine’s Day brought an extra special dose of love and joy for Sonya this year. Earlier in the week, she received a cozy new heart-patterned sweater in the mail from her sister, Lesley. It was a thoughtful gift that Sonya couldn’t wait to wear. And as it turned out, the sweater was just the beginning.
On Valentine’s Day, Lesley arrived for a surprise visit, greeting Sonya with a bouquet of beautiful flowers and a festive heart shaped balloon. Sonya was overjoyed to see her sister, touched by the care and warmth behind the unexpected arrival.
Wanting to make the most of the day, the sisters headed out together to visit a longtime friend, Ann, for a special Galentine’s Day celebration. The group enjoyed a lovely lunch, spent time working on a puzzle, shared laughs, and wrapped up the visit with a delicious Valentine’s cake.
The day was filled with connection, celebration, and moments that beautifully honored the spirit of family love. For Sonya, it was exactly what her heart needed, a reminder of the joy that comes from being surrounded by those who care most.

A Community Built on Cookies
Lydia Caron, Operations Specialist
Richard recently signed up for a library card in his town, and it has quickly opened the door to one of his favorite new routines. The library has become a comforting space where he enjoys greeting the librarian, settling into familiar corners, and taking in the quiet rhythm of the building. Each visit feels like a small adventure.
One of Richard’s preferred activities is spending time at the coloring table, where he relaxes with pencils and detailed designs. He also loves flipping through magazines, sometimes travel, sometimes fishing, sometimes whatever catches his eye that day. These simple pleasures allow him to unwind, explore new interests, and enjoy moments of calm away from the busyness of everyday life.
Adding to the charm of his visits, Richard often brings homemade cookies to share with the library staff. Baking is one of his personal joys, and gifting treats has become his way of showing appreciation to the people who help make the library feel special. With every visit, conversation, and warm batch of cookies, Richard builds a genuine connection, one sweet moment at a time.
